Fall 2017

21st Oct 2017

Greetings!

Fall is in full swing here at Vermont Shepherd. As the weather changes and we begin to feel the chill of the winter yet to come, so too comes a change of pace for farmer, animal, and field alike. The sheep produce less as the summer wanes and milking goes down to once a day instead of twice. We are putting by the summer bounty from our garden, working the land to plant garlic, and spreading rich, nourishing compost in the fields that keeps our grasses lush throughout the year. Some constants remain, like turning the Verano and Invierno in our cave, aging them to perfection, and making cheese a few days a week.

UPDATES: Vermont Shepherd will be participating in the Putney Winter Farmers’ markets! Be sure and go and see Becca and Sarah at least once, they will be happy to go through a formal cheese tasting with you and offer wine and food pairing advice! Becca started working at the farm in 2007, but she and Sarah just returned from living in Northern California where they farmed and did quite a bit of chef work. Their food knowledge will not disappoint! Markets are Sundays, November 19th through December 17th, from 11-2pm at Green Mountain Orchard.

We now have our Instagram up and running! To see what's new at the farm, or just to see cute pictures of the animals, follow us @vermontshepherd (www.instagram.com/vermontshepherd)

Thank you all for your continued support! Our cheese and other product is always available in our self-service farm store located on the property. This is how locals get our cheese regularly! It’s a great way to get the full experience, and we encourage you to come stop by and enjoy the country if you are in the area. If you are not in the area, or you would prefer, you can also order our cheese anytime in our online store.
